Digitalis -- Foxglove (one of Dave's Top 21 Favorites)

This long-blooming plant has never been nibbled by deer in my yard (it's toxic if eaten). Even where deer are not a problem, it's a gardener's favorite for its height and long bloom time. Vigorous annual growth requires moist soil with some organic matter in it. The biennials (purpurea) live only two years but usually reseed themselves after a fantastic, long-lasting show.
