Lavandula x intermedia 'Phenomenal' ™ – Save on bare root!

5 of 5
New in 2016! Biggest lavender; consistent shape! 24-32″ tall, space 4 to 4-1/2 feet apart, Zones 4-9, full sun, bare root. Save 15% on three or more root clumps! ("Unit" in chart below means bare-root clump.)

This new lavender is phenomenal for two reasons: Each plant withstands cold and heat without dying back, and every plant reaches about the same (huge) size with dense, uniform branching. Silvery-green foliage is topped with tall wands of rich, lavender-purple flowers.

Big enough to be used as a hedge or as a mid-summer feature in the garden. Can also be grown as a cut-and-dried flower for potpourri and culinary uses. The gray foliage continues to look outstanding in winter.

In the north, ‘Phenomenal’ blooms from mid-through-late summer; blooms earlier in the south. Actually prefers poor soil and is resistant to common root and foliar diseases. Syn. ‘Niko’; Plant patent 24193.

Growing tips: After last frost, cut back to eight inches. After the main summer blooms are spent, cut them off to encourage more blooming later in the season.

"Truly lives up to its name."

– Stephanie Cohen in "Plant Picks" in Fine Gardening April 2014.
